For ops engineers

The low-code path — YAML in your editor, schema-aware autocomplete, per-state tuning.

You're comfortable with a terminal and a text editor. You want to tune thresholds, wire webhooks, and maintain config the same way you maintain everything else — in git, with diffs, with code review. Kiket is designed around your workflow.

Your starter path

Clone your workspace repo

Every Kiket project is backed by a GitHub repo. When your PM creates the project, they connect it to a repo — clone it locally:

git clone git@github.com:your-org/your-workspace.git
cd your-workspace
ls .kiket/
# workflows/  boards/  intakes/  automations/  dashboards/  case_types.yaml

Point your editor at our JSON Schema

In VS Code's settings.json:

{
  "yaml.schemas": {
    "https://schemas.kiket.dev/workflow.json": ".kiket/workflows/*.yaml",
    "https://schemas.kiket.dev/board.json":     ".kiket/boards/*.yaml",
    "https://schemas.kiket.dev/intake.json":    ".kiket/intakes/*.yaml",
    "https://schemas.kiket.dev/automation.json":".kiket/automations/*.yaml",
    "https://schemas.kiket.dev/dashboard.json": ".kiket/dashboards/*.yaml"
  }
}

IntelliJ/JetBrains: add the same schemas via Settings → Languages & Frameworks → Schemas and DTDs → JSON Schema Mappings.

Now every Kiket YAML file gets autocomplete, inline docs, and validation as you type.

Edit + commit + push

vim .kiket/workflows/contract_review.yaml
git add -p
git commit -m "Tighten legal-review SLA to 24h warn / 48h breach"
git push

A push triggers the project's webhook; the app syncs within seconds.

Use sync mode to control cadence

In the app, Settings → Repositories → [repo]. Three sync modes:

  • Webhook (default) — real-time. Requires the GitHub webhook is installed (the connect flow sets it automatically).
  • Scheduled — poll every N minutes. Use when webhooks aren't reachable from your network.
  • Manual — only syncs when someone hits the Refresh button.

Powerful low-code patterns

Conditional approvals

approval:
  type: sequential
  chain: [counsel, cfo]
  conditional:
    cfo: { when: "total_value_usd > 100000" }

Cross-workflow automation

trigger:
  event: case.transitioned
  when: "to == 'approved' && workflow == 'contract_review'"
actions:
  - create_issue:
      workflow: billing_setup
      title: "Invoice setup for {{fields.counterparty}}"

Cron scheduled jobs

trigger:
  event: schedule.cron
  cron: "0 9 * * MON"
actions:
  - webhook:
      url: https://hooks.example.com/weekly-digest
      body: "{{ query('sla.breached == true') | json }}"

You won't touch

  • The visual canvas, most days. It's there when you want it; everything you do in YAML shows up on it.
  • Git for the actual project content. Workspace = config only. Cases, comments, time entries live in the DB.
