Case types

Workspace-level taxonomy for cases — keys, labels, hierarchy rules, optional fields on each kind of work.

A case type is the shape of a piece of work: which icon and color appear on the board, whether it allows child cases, and any extra typed fields collectors must fill in. Definitions live in a singleton YAML file checked into the workspace repo:

  • .kiket/case_types.yaml — one top-level case_types: array; you can optionally set model_version for your own bookkeeping.

Everything under .kiket/ is file-backed truth: the modeling cockpit edits the same YAML your IDE commits.

Minimum file

case_types:
  - key: control_review
    label: Control review
    allow_children: false
    icon: shield-check
    color: indigo
    position: 0
    active: true
  - key: evidence_gap
    label: Evidence gap
    allow_children: false
    icon: file-warning
    color: amber
    position: 1
    active: true

Use snake_case field names (allow_children, parent_types) so the file stays consistent with scaffolded repos and upstream templates.

Custom fields per type

Each entry can optionally declare typed fields stored on cases of that kind (keys mirror intake form field vocabulary where overlaps exist):

case_types:
  - key: contract
    label: Contract review
    allow_children: false
    position: 0
    active: true
    fields:
      - key: counterparty
        label: Counterparty
        type: text
        required: true
      - key: total_value_usd
        label: Total value (USD)
        type: number

Parent / child rules

Hierarchy is controlled with allow_children and parent_types:

case_types:
  - key: epic
    label: Epic
    allow_children: true
    position: 0
    active: true

  - key: story
    label: Story
    allow_children: false
    parent_types: [epic]
    position: 1
    active: true

The platform enforces these relationships when creating or linking cases.

Icon + color

Icons reference the Lucide set. Color values are typically tone tokens from your template (for example danger, primary, info) that the board and cards map to theme styles.

Editing surfaces

Open .kiket/case_types.yaml in the Project editor modeling tree to use the visual case-type editor, or edit the YAML directly — both write the same file.
